Located in the Cedar-Fairmount neighborhood of Cleveland Heights, the Cleveland Psychoanalytic Center is a non-profit organization formed from the merger of the former Cleveland Psychoanalytic Institute and Cleveland Psychoanalytic Society, both of which have been active for almost 50 years. The Center is an educational and membership organization of psychoanalysts that provides professional education and training, promotes scholarship and research, and offers community education, consultation and referral services. The Center’s mission is to promote the development and use of psychoanalysis for the benefit of the community.
An accredited Institute of the American Psychoanalytic Association, the Center offers training to become a psychoanalyst as well as other training and enrichment programs. The Center is supported primarily by private contributions, member dues, tuition and fees.
The Center offers:
Education and Training
- Post-graduate training that prepares candidates for practice of Adult and Child/Adolescent Psychoanalysis
- Two-year Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Program for advanced mental health practitioners
- Continuing Education programs for Physicians, Psychologists, Counselors & Social Workers
- Paper presentations, lectures, discussions, workshops and cultural events
- A library containing over 6,000 volumes
Referral and Consultation
- Referral for evaluation, psychodynamic therapy, and psychoanalysis for adults, adolescents and children
- Consultation and collaboration with schools, social service agencies, and other community organizations
Membership and Affiliation
- Professional membership organization for psychoanalysts
- Opportunity for Affiliate Membership for interested persons
